AC/DC Inverter

This team will be working on identifying necessary components of a bidirectional inverter and determining the best approach to achieve these goals; whether is be an off-the-shelf model or a home designed and built version.

Deliverables:

  • AC to DC conversion in order to draw off mains AC for tiny house needs and battery charging in times of overcast weather. Must be able to deliver constant voltage to the DC bus.
  • DC to AC inversion to provide grid balancing support. Is pure sine wave inversion necessary?
  • Ability to operate in islanding mode; still provide AC voltage when not attached to mains
